'Arthur & Lancelot' Is Facing a Budgetary Impasse at Warner Bros
The studio acquired Arthur & Lancelot as a spec script from Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus, and The Change-Up director David Dobkin last July, dropping a cool $2 million on the screenplay and putting the project on that proverbial fast track, effectively canceling out the other two Arthurian movies in development at Warner Bros. One of those was an Excalibur remake by Bryan Singer and the other was a take from Sherlock Holmes and Snatch director Guy Ritchie .
Dobkin recently cast Kit Harington , who plays Jon Snow on HBO's Game of Thrones , to star as Arthur alongside Joel Kinnaman of AMC's The Killing as Lancelot, and Warner Bros announced a March 15, 2013 release date for Arthur & Lancelot . So obviously this is a studio that wants very much to make a movie about Arthur.
