Recap: Buffalo vs. NY Rangers

Carl Hagelin scored twice, Martin Biron had 32 saves and the New York Rangers posted three unanswered goals Saturday to beat the Buffalo Sabres, 4-1.

The Rangers avoided their first three-game losing streak since starting the season 0-1-2.

Hagelin and Ryan Callahan had shorthanded goals in the second period while Marian Gaborik scored on a power play late in the third to seal the win.

Callahan's goal snapped a 1-1 tie and Biron kept Buffalo off the board after that, allowing New York to build a cushion.

Biron, who was a Sabres goaltender for nine seasons until 2007, made 12 of his 32 saves in the third period.

"It's a lot of fun to play here," he said.

Thomas Vanek scored for Buffalo, which fell to 1-1-1 on a five-game homestand, and Jhonas Enroth allowed four goals on 33 shots.

Despite the loss, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff liked the way his team looked against the Rangers.

"I thought we had more energy and skated a lot better," he said. "We made a couple more mistakes, but we didn't spend a lot of time in our own end."
